Cecilia Marie Fontaine

PORTSMOUTH, RI - Cecilia Depoint Fontaine, 88, formerly of Sprague Street, Portsmouth, RI, died Thursday, March 24, 2011 at the Hattie Ide Chaffee Home in East Providence, RI. She was the wife of the late Donald J. Fontaine.Born in Portsmouth, RI on November 6, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Antone and Mary Brown Depoint.Mrs. Fontaine graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1941. A lifelong resident of Portsmouth, she was employed at Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. until 1949 and then for AP Grocery Stores, both in Middletown and Newport for 34 years retiring in 1990. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Anthonys Church in Portsmouth and a member of the Portsmouth Senior Center.She is survived by her three sons, Anthony Fontaine and his wife, Barbara, of Cranston, RI, Michael Fontaine and his wife, Mary Ann, of North Scituate, RI and Robert Fontaine and his wife, Linda, of Tiverton, RI; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Manuel Depoint, Irene Martin, Olivia Lopes and Matilda Gonsalves. Calling hours weill be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, from 4-8pm in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at 9am from Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Hattie Ide Chaffee Home, 200 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence, RI 02915.
