Charlene Anne (Pappas) Taylor, 63, of Joanne Avenue, Portsmouth, RI, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 with her family at her side. Born in Newport, RI on October 23, 1948, she was the daughter of Bernice A. (Leonard) Pappas of Portsmouth, RI and the late Charles P. Pappas. Charlene was a 1966 graduate of Portsmouth High School and the Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing. She had worked at Women Infants Hospital, RI Hospital and Briarcliff Nursing Home. She enjoyed reading and spent her life helping others, especially the elderly. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her son, John Lima of North Providence, RI; her siblings, Charles Pappas, Jr. and his wife Doreen of Providence, RI, Stephen P. Pappas and his wife Debbie of Portsmouth, RI, Carolyn J. Casey and her husband Stephen of Tiverton, RI and John C. Pappas and his wife Christine of New Bern, NC; twelve nieces and nephews, and fifteen grandnieces and grandnephews. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2102 at 9:30 am from Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI. Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown. Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 5, 2012 from 4-8 pm in the funeral home.
