NEWPORT, RI - Charles D. Auld, 70, of Jamestown, RI, died Saturday, November 26, 2005 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. He was the husband of Anna Harrison-Auld.Born in Palisades Park, NJ on October 1, 1935, he was the son of the late Harold Elmer and Laura Euphemia MacDonald Auld.Mr. Auld worked as a self employed Construction Engineer for many years. He was the former President of the Beavertail Lighthouse Museum Association in Jamestown. Prior to moving to Rhode Island, he was very active in local politics in Bergen County, NJ. Mr. Auld was an Elder and a member of the Pastor nominating committee at The Presbyterian Church at Franklin Lakes, NJ. With another member of the congregation, he started a Boy Scout troupe in inner-city Paterson, NJ and later led coaching sessions to prepare kids for life after high school.He was a graduate of the Manhattan Institute. He served in the US Army in Germany and Eastern Europe. As a boy, while growing up in New Jersey, he was a member of the Sea Scouts. He is also survived by his children Douglas Andrew Auld and his wife Debra of Fairlawn, NJ, David Lawrence Auld of Greenwich, CT, and Barbara Auld Martinez and her husband Matthew of Hoboken, NJ, his grandsons Christopher Douglas Auld and Daniel James Auld both of Fairlawn, NJ, his former wife Frances of Mahwah, NJ, and his brother in law Joseph C. Harrison and his wife Stephanie Cooper of Ashville, NC. He was the son in law of the late Ida Woody Harrison. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at 10:00AM in the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway Newport, RI Memorial donations may be made to the RI Food Bank, 200 Niantic Avenue, Providence, RI 02907.
