Charles Cunningham Canoll, Iii

Newport, RI ? Charles ?Chuck? Cunningham Canoll, III, 51, of 12 Lincoln Street, Newport, RI, formerly of 7 Cottage Street, Looking Upwards Inc. passed peacefully Monday, December 3, 2007. He was the former husband of Carolynne Tollefson Canoll of 17 years. Born in Schenectady, NY, on February 17, 1956. He was the son of Dr. Charles and Marilyn Grinter Canoll of Kingston, NY. Charles was a retired residential director for Looking Upwards where he served special-needs adults and staff for the daily administration of semi-independent apartment programs and independent adults needing outreach support. Throughout his life, he did volunteer work in Adaptive Aquatics. He also worked as a CDL driver for Clifford W. Perham Inc. and Asset Leasing. He received his CDL Class A license with X, T, P endorsements. Chuck was a 1974 graduate of Niskayuna High School in Niskayna, New York. He was a graduate of Roger Williams University receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1978. He also trained as an E.M.T. in the Newport Hospital Continuing Education and was trained by the Department of Health in Pharmacutical Administration and Food Safety Management program. Charles enjoyed long-distance bicycling, maintenance and repair. He was PADI certified in SCUBA diving, enjoyed hiking, camping and cross-country skiing.Besides his former wife and parents, he is survived by his son Charles Cunningham Canoll IV of Newport, RI, his brothers Timothy Canoll of Atlanta, GA, David Canoll of Manhatten Beach, CA Peter Canoll of New York City, NY, his sisters; Cindy Canoll Bakanas of Redding, CT, Tina Saunders of Ridgewood, NJ, and Merlynn Canoll of Albany, NY, and his nieces and nephews; Catherine Portner, Mary Portner, Charles Robert Portner, Alexander Portner, Marty Portner, Bailey Tollefson, Elizabeth Ribera Scanlan and her husband David, George A. Tollefson III, Emily Tollefson, twins Nina Tollefson and James Tollefson, Jr., Jacqueline Tollefson, Phoebe Bakanas, Ted Bakanas, Tyler Bakanas, James Saunders, Grant Saunders, Meryl Saunders, Belize Combs, Coltrane Canoll, Cayenne Combs, Kai Canoll, Mia Giaever and Hela Giaever. His prayer service will be held on Friday, December 7, 2007, at 1:00 pm in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2007, from 4-7 pm in the funeral home.A Memorial service will take place on Saturday, December 8, 2007, at 2-4 in the Dutch Reformed Church in Scotia, NY, Charles? place of Baptism.
