MIDDLETOWN, RI - Charles Esau Kempenaar, 55, of 538 Turner Road, Middletown, RI died Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Angela Violet Kempenaar of Middletown, RI. Born in Newport, Rhode Island on June 10, 1950, he was the son of Mary Jean Weber Kempenaar of Middletown, and the late Charles R. Kempenaar.Mr. Kempenaar graduated from Middletown High School in 1969. He was a self-employed commercial nurseryman, owning and operating the Boulevard Nurseries for the last 40 years with his family. Charles was a member of the R.I. Nurserymans Association, the International Plant Propagators Society, and the Middletown FOP. He was also a former member of the North End Club. Charles was an avid NASCAR fan and attended several races all over the country. Besides his wife and mother, he is survived his two sons Charles E. Kempenaar, Jr. and Michael J. Kempenaar both of Middletown, RI, his sisters Gloria Dunn and Sharon Carter both of Middletown, RI, and several nieces and nephews and one great niece. He also leaves two uncles, Frederick Kempenaar and Robert Kempenaar, and many cousins.His funeral will be held on Monday, December 19, 2005 at 10:00am in St. Georges Episcopal Church, 14 Rhode Island Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Marys Churchyard in Portsmouth.Calling hours will be held Sunday, December 18, from 4-7pm in the Hambly Funeral Home, 30 Red Cross Ave, Newport.
