Newport, RI - Charles ?Charlie? H. Peckham, 94, of 7 Hall Avenue, Newport, died Sunday, December 12, 2004 at the home of his son and daughter in-law at 9 Champlin Terrace, Middletown.He was the husband of the late Margaret Veronica Platt Peckham. Born in Newport, RI on March 8, 1910, he was the son of the late Benjamin A. G. and Grace R. Underwood Peckham. Mr. Peckham was a Army veteran of World War II. He worked as a security guard at Davisville in Quonset and a carpenter for local contractors. Mr. Peckham was a member of the D.A.V. Kerin Hogans Chapter, the Legion of Mary of St. Josephs Church, a past member of St. Joseph Parish Council and a volunteer at the soup kitchen for St. Josephs Church. He is survived by his son Charles H. Peckham Jr. of Middletown, RI, two daughters Marilyn Rahn of Newport, RI, and Elaine Kaminski of Manhattan, KS, twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.He was the brother of the late Benjamin Peckham and Frederick Peckham.His funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2004, at 8:00 AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00 AM in St. Josephs Church, Broadway And Mann Avenue, Newport.
