Newport, RI - Charles H. Tisdall, Jr., 91, of 40 Thurston Avenue, Newport, RI, died Saturday, April 1, 2006 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Agnes McFee Tisdall. Born in Newport, RI on Feb. 3, 1915, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Carrie Hummel Tisdall.Mr. Tisdall graduated from Rogers High School and was a 1938 graduate of the RI School of Design. He went on to serve in the Navy during WWII. Mr. Tisdall was the last owner of the former Tisdalls Market in Newport. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was an avid gardner, especially caring for his roses. Mr. Tisdall loved to draw and was an accomplished artist. He leaves his daughter Christine Duclos of Middletown, RI, a grandson Jason Convery of Salem, VA, a granddaughter Jodi Salazar of Honolulu, HI, he also leaves a Great Granddaughter Savannah Salazar of Honolulu and a Great Grandson James Convery of Salem, VA his Niece Lynn Tenney of Portsmouth, RI, and Great Friend David Dresser of Middletown, RI, He was the great grandfather of the late Alyson Convery and brother of the late Oliver F. Tisdall and Harry W. Tisdall. His funeral will be held Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway, Newport. Calling hours will be held Tuesday evening from 6-9 p.m. in the funeral home.
