West Dover, VT - Charles J. Romano, 68, of West Dover, Vermont and Middletown, Rhode Island, died Monday, March 8, 2010 at Miriam Hospital, Providence, RI. He was the longtime companion and best friend of Gale Palladino, of Middletown, RI and Vermont.Born in Montclair, NJ on August 1, 1941, he was the son of the late John and Mary DeVita Romano.Charlie was the owner and operator of Romano Jewelers in Middletown, New Jersey. He recently worked at Mt. Snow Resort in Vermont for 20 years, lastly as the Human Resource manager. He loved fishing, was an avid chef and loved red wine. His marinara sauce will be greatly missed.He is survived by his former wife Edwina Romano of Middletown, NJ, his children John E. Romano and his wife Mary Beth of Belford, NJ, Steven Romano and his wife Tami of Middletown, NJ, his daughter Jodi Romano of Middletown, NJ, Ralph Palladino of Long Beach, NY, Joseph Palladino of Middletown, RI, and Alison and Brian Ernest of Middletown, RI, He also leaves his grandchildren Spencer Romano, Justin Romano, Mark Romano, Evan Romano, Raphael Palladino and granddaughter Olivia Ernest.He was predeceased by his sister Joan Morris.His funeral will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 10:00am in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown, RI.Burial will be private.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Home Hospice Care of Rhode Island, 1485 North Main St., Providence, RI. 02905
