Middletown, RI - Charles Joseph Schaefer Jr., 87, of 333 Green End Avenue, Middletown, RI, died Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at Grand Islander Health Care Center Middletown, RI. He was the husband of the late Helen Brown Schaefer. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on June 12, 1917, he was the son of the lateCharles J. and Ida Sontag Schaefer. Mr. Schaefer owned and operated the former Caboose Hobbies in Huntington, New York, for over 52 years where he was known for repairing electronic trains for his family and friends . He enjoyed playing the saxophone and the clarinet as a hobby and was also a member of several of the local ?Big Bands? in the New York City area. He is survived by his sons Charles J. Schaefer III of Newport, RI, James A. Schaefer of Parker, AZ, and Fredric C. Schaefer of Torsas, Sweden, his wonderful grandchildren, Alec Schaefer of Huntington, NY, Lauren Schaefer of New York, NY, April Gray of Greenville, SC, Elvira Sullivan of Huntington, NY, Sara Schaefer, Sofia Schaefer, Ida Schaefer, Sussie Schaefer, and Annika Schaefer all of Sweden, and his great grandchildren, Mason Gray and James Gray of Greenville, SC, Michael Sullivan, Thomas Sullivan, William Sullivan and Sophia Sullivan all of Huntington, NY, and Emilia Johansson and Matilda Johansson both of Sweden.
