Charles M. "Chuck" Connor Jr

Middletown, RI - Charles M. "Chuck" Connor, 75, of Middletown, RI, died Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. He was the husband of Mary C. (Riley) Connor. Born in Fall River, MA on August 26, 1938, he was the son of the late Charles M. and Mary (OBrien) Connor. Chuck graduated from Solvay High School in Solvay, New York and attended Syracuse University. He played semi-professional hockey and owned and operated Chuck Connor's Family Restaurant. Chuck was a Newport County Deputy Sheriff for 21 years. He was an avid golfer, and worked at the Jamestown Golf Club, he especially enjoyed teaching young children the game of golf. He was a diehard Giants fan, loved to cook, was a member of the Elks Club #104 and a Past Exaulted ruler, and a member of the Aquidneck Island All Vets. Nothing pleased Chuck more than the joy and pride he had for his grandchildren and their accomplishments. Besides his wife of 31 years, he is survived by his children, Jeannine Magliocco and her husband Paul of Lincoln, RI, Jennifer Mooney and her husband Patrick of Swansea, MA, Geoffrey Preuit and his wife Heather of Warwick, RI, Scott Preuit and his wife Leslie of Portsmouth, RI and Leslie Connor of Fall River, MA, his grandchildren, Ross Magliocco, Ainsley Magliocco, Lydia Magliocco, Patrick Mooney, Caelinn Mooney, Liam Mooney, Elizabeth Preuit, Abigail Preuit, Connor Preuit, Aiden Preuit, Owen Preuit, Scott Preuit Jr, Andrew Preuit, Julia Preuit, Michael Connor and Stephanie Connor and his great grandson Lyric Michael Connor. He was the father of the late Charles Connor III and the grandfather of the late Colin Mooney.Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 30, 2014, from 4-7 pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.His funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at 8 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown.
