Charles Purdy Middletown, RI - Charles Purdy, 74, of 54 Maple Avenue, Middletown, RI, died Friday, February 20, 2009, at Heatherwood Nursing and Subacute Center, Newport, RI. Born in Newport, RI, on December 18, 1934, he was the son of the late Walter and Doris Ciak Purdy. He was the former husband of Rosemary Sadlers of Middletown, NY.Mr. Purdy was an electrician for 42 years. He was a member of the North End Club and the Newport Rifle Club. He is survived by his children, Carlton James Purdy and Caroline Purdy, and his brothers, Walter Purdy of Groton, CT and Robert Purdy of Newport, RI, and a grandson Christopher. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2009, at 8:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. Marys Church, Spring Street, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2009, from 5-6pm in the funeral home.
