Charles Thomas Dewick of Tiverton, Rhode Island passed away on August 12, 2015. He was born in September 1926. He was the husband of Anna Weiss Dewick.After the death of his mother in 1934 he was raised at St. Andrews Episcopal School in Barrington, RI. He joined the Navy in 1944. He trained with the Marines for the Navy Amphibious Fleet. He served on the USS Sitka as a machinist mate. He was also an engineman for the amphibious landing craft in the Pacific Theater. After WWII he returned to Newport and graduated from Rogers High School in 1946. He attended Wentworth College in Boston and majored in engineering. He was recalled to active duty in 1951 and 1952 for the Korean Conflict. He served on the USS Shangri-La.In addition to his wife Anna Weiss Dewick he leaves a daughter Deborah Gail Beveridge, her husband Russell, a granddaughter Katherine, three great grandchildren Rusty, Treasure, Blessing, and a niece Susan Cruz.Charles worked for Avica Corp in Middletown, RI. He was transferred to the California division after the company was purchased by Metal Bellows Corp. He worked in the marketing and engineering divisions dealing with aircraft and aerospace products.He resided in California for 29 years and then returned to Portsmouth, RI. He was very active in The Church of the Holy Cross in Middletown, RI serving on the vestry, being chairman of the church restoration committee. He also worked on the Memorial Walkway, was on the grounds committee, and participated with the Holy Cross Men's Club.Charles was a member of the American Legion Post #7, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Eureka Masonic Lodge in Portsmouth, RI. He enjoyed golf, woodworking, and deep sea fishing for salmon in the Seattle, Washington area.Family and friends are invited to an hour of visitation from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday August 19, 2015 in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday August 20, 2015 at The Church of the Holy Cross, 1439 West Main Road, Middletown, RI.
