Charlotte E. Van Hof

Bristol, RI - Charlotte Emerson Van Hof, 88, of 1 Dawn Hill, Bristol, RI, died Thursday, June 3, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Manor, East Bay, Bristol. She was the wife of the late Klaas Van Hof. Born in Revere Beach, MA on Dec. 16, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Clara Gillette Emerson.Mrs. Van Hof served on the Portsmouth School Committee. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels in Ossippee, NH and for Caregivers of Wolfborough, NH to drive those in need to the hospital and other appointments. Mrs. Van Hof along with her husband Klaas and others of the Granite Day Committee worked to preserve the Freewill Baptist Church Building on Granite Road in Ossippee. She leaves her children Martin Van Hof of Tiverton, Peter Van Hof of Portsmouth, David Van Hof of Tiverton and Judith Chase Peabody of Portsmouth. She was the sister of Carol Emerson Jones of South Royalton, VT. Mrs. Van Hof is also survived by eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.Calling hours will be held Wednesday evening from 5 - 7pm in the funeral home.Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 7:00pm in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.
