Cheryl Lee Sajjad

Cheryl L. (Dowty) Sajjad, 54, died Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River, MA. Born in Fall River, MA, on August 21, 1958, she is the daughter of Lorraine (Bouchard) Dowty DelPiano of Middletown, RI and the late Gordon Dowty of Portsmouth , RI. Cheryl grew up with her family in Portsmouth, RI and graduated from Portsmouth High School. Cheryl had many interests, including attending Roger Williams University where she was enrolled in an Arts program where she further developed her love of crafting. Cheryl was also very talented and always eager to learn new things and accept new challenges. Later on she pursued her interests in the medical field and became a medical transcriptionist both at the Newport Hospital, and later from home. She was a hard worker and very goal oriented in everything she did. Cheryl was passionate about gardening, flowers, and everything to do with the earth. She loved animals dearly, especially cats. She loved cooking and baking, spending many Holidays with her family baking Christmas cookies. She also enjoyed swimming, fishing and camping as their family spent their summer vacations camping in Maine. Cheryl had a great sense of humor and became a friend to many. She had a heart of gold and was a very caring daughter, sister, niece, and aunt. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Besides her mother, she is survived by her brothers, Keith Dowty and Gordon Dowty Jr. of Fall River, MA, and her sister Deborah Murphy of Middletown, RI, and nieces and nephews. Her Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2013, at 10:00 AM in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI. Burial will be private.
