Cheryl Ruth Dame

Cheryl Ruth Dame, 60, of Portsmouth, RI, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Newport Hospital.Cheryl was born in Newport, RI and lived in Portsmouth for most of her life. She was a graduate of Portsmouth High School and Johnson and Wales University.Cheryl is survived by her son Jared N. Dame of Portsmouth, RI; brothers ,Gary Dame and his wife, Donna of Bristol, RI, Brian Dame of Daytona Beach, FL, Larry Dame and his wife, Kim and Rex Dame and his wife Jodi, all of Portsmouth, RI; nephews, Brandon, Gregory, Jacob, Matthew, Erik, Seth, Taylor, Corey and Ryan; nieces, Miranda Augustine and Stephanie Campbell, her husband, Kyle, and their children, Madisyn and Jaxon; and uncle, Douglas Stone.Cheryl is predeceased by her parents, Harry Norman and Ruth (Stone) Dame; her grandparents, Ashton and Gladys (Barker) Stone and Harry and Daisy Dame; and several aunts and uncles.Cheryl received much joy from and was most proud of her son, Jared. She was a devoted Mom and Aunt, and rarely missed a baseball game, recital or Special Olympics event to cheer on her loved ones.Cheryl took pleasure in the simple things in life. She cherished her family, friends and pets. She took pride in upholding her family's traditions by cooking and baking heirloom recipes for special celebrations. She enjoyed knitting crocheting, reading, spending time at the family cabin "Stoney Acres" in Alton, NH and was an avid New England sports fan and animal lover.A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at 11:00a.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Churchyard, 324 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.To remember Cheryl for her caring heart, warm smile and contagious laugh, in lieu of flowers, the family appreciates any thoughtful deed or random act of kindness be made in her memory.
