Christina Ann Gabriel, died March 13, 2013 surrounded by her family at Venice Regional Medical Center in Venice, Florida. She was eleven days shy of her sixty-seventh birthday.'Tina', was born on March 24, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY. Her parents were Herbert and Helen (Salvetti) Williams. She married the late Peter J. Gabriel on February 24th 1968 in Blue Point, NY. She briefly lived in Germany during Peter's tour of duty in the U.S. Army. In 1972, they moved to Newport, RI to raise a family.During her time in Rhode Island, Tina raised three children. She made life-long friends while Square Dancing with the "Town Howlers", cooking in her International Dinner Club, participating in bowling leagues, and playing in several Bridge Clubs over the years. Tina worked in several positions at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, and thought the world of her co-workers.Never one to sit still, Tina loved to travel. There were countless family camping trips up and down the east coast. Later, she developed a passion for sailing. Her summer weekends spent guiding their 26' "Joyride" around Narragansett Bay.Tina retired to North Port, FL with her companion Robert Harding. She was an active member of the Harbor Isles community, a member of the Grandmother's Club, and Florida Red Hat's among others. She continued to travel, which either meant cruising the Caribbean, or visiting her children and grandchildren.Tina is survived by her 3 children and spouses: Jeffery and Elizabeth Gabriel of Franklin, MA, Matthew and Teresa Gabriel, Hot Springs, AR and Deborah and Christopher Canale, Attleboro, MA. Tina had 2 granddaughters: Sara and Amy Gabriel. Tina is also survived by her brother Dennis Vollmer of Clearwater, FL and her sister Toni Williams of Newport, RI.A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on April 12th at the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.
