Christine E. Caufield Huss, 80, of Quaker Manor Portsmouth, formerly of Old Ford Road Newport, died Friday, May 31, 2002 at Village House Newport, RI. She was the wife of the late Douglas P. Huss. Born in on Denison Street in Newport, RI on February 13, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Daniel T. and Margaret McCarthy Caufield.A graduate of Rogers High School in 1940, Mrs. Huss received recognition as secretary for then mayor McCauley of Newport. During WWII, she worked at the Torpedo Station on Goat Island. She enjoyed her life as a homemaker and a seamstress. Mrs. Huss was a member of St. Anthonys Church and the Portsmouth Senior Center. She is survived by four daughters Rev. Dorothy M. Huss Ward of Newport, RI, M. Ellen Milligan of Snellville, GA, Christine M. Laurin of Portsmouth, RI, and Marie D. Gallagher of North Berwick, ME, ten grandchildren and four great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sisters Ellen Sullivan and Dorothy Caufield. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10:00am with a Mass of Christian burial in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.
