Christine Lynn Pembrook

Christine Pembrook, age 29, of Middletown died Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Miriam Hospital of Providence, RI after a valiant battle with leukemia. Christine was born Jan 13, 1983 at West Point, NY. She is the daughter of Wayne and Carol (Schmitz) Pembrook, of Middletown, RI. Christine was the youngest of three girls who grew up in an Army family, living in Texas, Kentucky, Germany and Italy, but Newport always felt like home to her. She graduated from FT Knox High School in Kentucky as class Valedictorian and was a National Merit Scholarship finalist. She returned to Rhode Island to attend URI. She graduated with high honors as a double major while concurrently beginning her career. For several years she worked in Human Resources for the Newport Navy Exchange until she received a promotion and transfer to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, where she lived for the last 18 months.Christine was an incredibly intelligent, exuberant young lady who loved life. Dedicated to her work, devoted to her family and friends, she was an avid reader with a passion for technology. Her infectious smile and bubbly personality will be sorely missed by anyone who knew her.She is survived by parents COL Wayne Pembrook, USA (Ret) and Carol (Schmitz) Pembrook of Middletown; two sisters: Cindy Pembrook and Lisa Esterrich, both of Raleigh, NC; her grandmother, Hazel Pembrook of Marthas Vineyard, MA, her niece Isabel Victoria, as well as 11 aunts and uncles, and numerous cousins.Calling hours will be Tuesday, October 16 from 4:00-7:00pm at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI. The funeral mass will be held Wednesday, October 17 at 10:30 am at St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown.
