Wilmer "Chuck" Ludwick Wentzel, III, 74, of West Warwick, Rhode Island, died on June 4, 2024. Born at the Quonset Naval Air Station on September 14, 1949, he was the son of the late Wilmer and Joan (DiBeueaulieu) Wentzel.
A man of many talents and a dedicated Army veteran who served during the Vietnam Era, Wilmer spent his life embracing a variety of occupations and roles with dedication and skill.
Wilmer proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, enlisting on January 28, 1970, and achieving the honorable rank of Specialist 4 before his discharge on September 1, 1971. Following his military service, Wilmer worked at Organic Dyestuffs Corporation and later pursued a diverse array of job opportunities, each showcasing his unwavering work ethic and natural mechanical abilities.
A gifted mechanic, Wilmer found joy in fixing and building things, a talent that served him well throughout his life. He also found fulfillment in driving, working as a school bus driver and in various transportation roles. His dedication to his work and his commitment to caring for his loved ones were evident in all that he did.
Chuck is survived by two sons Erick (Denise) Wentzel and Nathan Wentzel, and his brother, Bruce Wentzel and Andrea L. Whitney of Portsmouth, R.I. Chuck is also survived by 7 Grandchildren: Jessica Lake, Thera Wentzel, Gregory Wentzel, Bojana Christoffer, Lily Wentzel, and Ivy Wentzel. His Greatgrandchildren: Ryan, Jason, Alec, and Damon.
Services will be privately held in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.
