Claire D. Murphy

Claire D. Murphy, 81 of Portsmouth, RI, passed away on Tuesday January 1, 2013 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. She was born on July 21, 1931 in Fall River, MA, to the late Christopher and Francis (McVey) Murphy. Claire was a 1949 graduate of BMC Durfee High School. She worked at the Imperial Knife Co. in Providence for many years but primarily was a caretaker for her mother and brothers. Ms. Murphy loved the outdoors and spending time in her yard, bust mostly enjoying time with her family. She was an avid sports fan of all the New England sports teams. She is survived by her brother Frank Murphy of Portsmouth, RI, her sister Phyllis Chrupcala of Westport, MA, twelve nieces and nephews, twenty one great nieces and nephews and nine great -great nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was the sister of the late Henry P. Murphy, Christopher P. Murphy Jr. and Edward F. Murphy and Marion L. Giblin all formerly of Portsmouth. Her funeral will be held on Saturday January 5, 2013, at 10:00 am in St Anthony's Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
