Clara E. Carson

Newport, RI - Clara E. Clara-Betsy Kline Carson, 81, of 29A Chapel Street, Newport, RI, died on Saturday, March 24, 2012, the Philip Hulitar Home at Home and Hospice, Providence, RI.She was the former wife of the late Donald E. Carson. Born in Cincinatti, OH on April 21, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Arnold Richard and Mary-Cornelia Ingersoll Kline.Mrs. Carson was a 1952 graduate of Goucher College in Towson MD with a degree in Economics. She served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, retiring as a LT. J.G. Clara-Betsy cooked for nine years form Mrs. John Brown, was very active with the Emmanuel Church, where she was a Soups On cook, a den mother in scouting. She lived in Japan fro 3 1/2 years from 1996-2000. She is survived by her sons, Arnold Richard Carson of Hawaii, Dallas Eugene Carson and David Owen Carson both of Virginia, her sisters Cornelia Riley of Woodbridge, VA and Anne Rhoda Romstead of Richfield, MN, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.She was the mother of the late Donald Eugene Carson Jr. and Lois Marie Carson, and the sister of the late Arnold Richard Kline, Jr. and Albert Converse Kline.Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 3pm, in Emmanuel Church, 42 Dearborn Street, Newport.Donations may be made in her memory to the Soups On Ministry or the Bell Choir, both are c/o Emmanuel Church, 42 Dearborn Street, Newport, RI 02840.
