She was the wife of the late Harold Saunders Vars. Born in Newport, RI, on March 19, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Sarmento Perry.Mrs. Vars was a communicant of St. Josephs Church. She was a member of the Point Association, and the Golden Girls Bowling League. Mrs. Vars was a volunteer at St. Paul Priory and was an avid bowler in later years. She is survived by her sons Edmund S. Perry of Middletown, RI, and Joseph H. Vars of Jenson Beach, FL, her daughter Eleanor T. Pore of Riverview, FL, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Joseph P.T. Vars and the sister of the late Edward Perry, Manuel Perry, Joseph Perry, Antonio Perry, Mary ?Mamie? Bento and Julia P. Oliver. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at 8:00a.m.from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00a.m. in St. Josephs Church, Broadway And Mann Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2006, from 4-8p.m. in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway Newport, R.I.
