Colleen Jenney

KISSIMMEE, FL, - Colleen OBrien Jenney, 60, of Kissimmee, FL, died on Sunday, July 10, 2011, at home with her family.She was the wife of James Jenney. Born in Newport, RI, on October 14, 1950, she was the daughter of Pauline Fonseca OBrien of Portsmouth, RI and the late James Eddy OBrien. Colleen was the oldest of the eight siblings growing up on Barkers Lane in Portsmouth. She was a 1969 graduate of Portsmouth High School. During high school she was employed at Youngs Restaurant, Fall River, MA and then the First National Grocery Store in Portsmouth, for many years. Colleen was most recently employed at AMC/Disney. Colleen and Jim married in 1973 making their home in Newport, then Saunderstown, RI where Colleen embraced Jims love of the sea and shipwrecks typified by her email knick name of wreckswife. They were Rhode Island Foster Parents to special needs children before relocating to Kissimmee, FL with their four children. Colleen was the consummate Disney hostess when family and friends visited; relishing the opportunity to provide VIP treatment. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting for her husband, sons and many nieces and nephews. Colleen was never without her entourage of pets including a German Sheppard, kittens, cats, an amazon parrot, and wire eating rabbits. She was an avid reader. Colleen also enjoyed many activities on-line sending emails and chatting with family and friends. Besides her husband of 38 years and her mother, she is survived by her sons, Andrew James Jenney and Charles David Jenney both of Kissimmee, FL, Nicholas Jenney and Kenneth Jenney, her siblings, Eddie OBrien of Bristol, RI, Michael OBrien and his wife Teresa of Portsmouth, RI, Debra Faryniarz and her husband Larry of Portsmouth, RI, Susan OBrien and her husband David Boland of Portsmouth, RI, Janet Szafir and her husband Scott of Tiverton, RI, Dorothy OBrien of Quebec, Canada, and Kathleen OBrien of Portsmouth, RI, her aunt and uncle B. Eileen Gleeson and her husband Bill of Portsmouth, RI, and several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2011, from 7-9pm, in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.Her funeral will be held on Friday, July 15, 2011, at 12:00PM, in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.
