Middletown, RI - Concetta A. Providenti Ward, 89, of Middletown, RI, died Monday, December 12, 2011 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, RI.She was the wife of the late William E. Ward.Born in Warren, RI on September 27, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Crestina Gallucci Providenti.Mrs. Ward was a charter communicant of St. Barnabas Church since its founding in 1963. She loved the Red Sox and was an avid fan. She also enjoyed various Bingos and her occasional outings at Newport Grand, formerly Newport Hi Li and Foxwoods.She is survived by her children, William M. Ward of Middletown, RI, Kathleen A. Erban and her husband Kenneth G. Erban of Palm City, FL, Edmund J. Ward of Newport, RI, and Thomas W. Ward of Del Ray, FL, her sister Angelina G. Souza of Portsmouth, RI, eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Michael V. Providenti. Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 16, 2011, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Her funeral will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2011, at 8:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth.Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.Donations in her memory may be made to St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
