Concye Anne Patterson Nelson of Portsmouth, R.I. formerly of Boston, MA,died peacefully on September 20, 2015 at the Grand Islander Nursing CareFacility in Middletown, R.I. She was born in Boston, MA on June 12,1936. Daughter of Edward Patterson and Gertrude Mills Patterson. Loving mother of Michael Nelson and Rev. Sheree (Nelson) Harrington and son-in-law Barry E. Harrington, and devoted sister of Janice L. Craddock who predeceased her. She was married to the late Arthur L. Nelson, Jr. on January 9,1956.Concye was raised in the Emmanuel Holiness Church in Roxbury, MA.where she attended Sunday School and Christian Endeavor. Her maternalgrandmother was one of the founders of the church. She was educated inBoston Public Schools, graduating from Girls High School in 1954. Concyespent almost 20 years as a Navy wife together with her late husband, atone point living for 5 years stationed with her children in Hawaii. After herlate husband's retirement in 1972, she spent many years working at variousjobs including as an investigator for the R.I. Department of BusinessRegulations and later as the administrative office manager alongside herlate husband in their business Art's Foreign Car Service in Portsmouth, R.I.Concye and her late husband enjoyed motorcycle riding and weremembers of the Honda Gold Wing Motorcycle Club. She loved watchingT.V. and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed the music of Motown.Concye is survived by her son, Michael A. Nelson of Portsmouth R.I. andher daughter, Rev. Sheree A. Harrington and her husband Barry ofWebster, MA., her aunt Beryl. M. Jones, cousins Jacinth Cooke, JuanitaHardrick, Ronald Jones, Kim Klinger, Ashley Bisanzio, and Blair Scott. Sheis also survived by other family and friends who will miss her dearly.Calling hours will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2015 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, with a funeral service in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Newport Memorial Park, Middletown, RI.The family of Concye Nelson would like to thank everyone for their prayers,love and support during this very difficult time.
