Constance H. "Connie" Huggins, 88, of Swansea, MA, died Monday, October 15, 2012.Born in Middleboro, MA, on March 1, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Albert M. and Anna (MacDonald) Heath. She was the wife the late Lt. Cmdr. Hilliard H. Huggins, Sr., USNR, Ret.Mrs. Huggins was a member of the Middleboro Housing Authority, campaigned vigorously for the late President John F. Kennedy during the 1960 Presidential Election, was President of the Lakeville, Middleboro, and Carver PTA Councils; served as a page for the Democratic Women on Wheels, and assisted with the March of Dimes for many years. She was active with the St. Mary's County, MD Democratic Party and a delegate assistant in Annapolis, Maryland.She is survived by her son Hilliard H. "Hug" Huggins, Jr. of Portsmouth, RI, her daughter in law, Elizabeth Huggins of Nicholasville, KY, her grandchildren, John Huggins, Daniel Huggins, Joel Blumsack, Dr. Paul Blumsack and Michael Blumsack, her great grandson, Alexander J. Huggins, and her nephew, Gary Jones of Brookline, MA.She was the mother of the late Lt. Cmdr. Howard H. Huggins, USN, Ret., and sister of the late Virginia H. Abercrombie.A gathering of family and friends will be announced at a later date.She will be laid to rest with her husband in Arlington National Cemetery.
