Barrington, RI - Corinne Riley, 84, of Barrington and Newport, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2007 surrounded by her family at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, RI after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late John C. Riley. Born in Newport, RI on November 11, 1922, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Quigley Murphy.Mrs. Riley served in the US Army during World War II as a nurse. Corinne continued her career as a nurse in Newport, where she worked for the Newport Visiting Nurse Service for over 25 years. She was a member of St. Lukes Church in Barrington and St. Lucys Church in Middletown, and belonged to the Small Christian Community at both parishes. In her free time, she would spend the summers at Eastons Beach in Newport. She is survived by a daughter Sally Rawnsley of Middletown, RI, and four sons John Riley Jr. of Lynn, MA, Thomas Riley of Tiverton, RI, David Riley of Barrington, RI, and Joseph Riley of Portsmouth, RI and twelve grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her daughter Mary Riley, a brother John Murphy and her sister Trudy Boiani.Her funeral will be held on Saturday, September 8, at 9:30 from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am in St. Luke Church, 108 Washington Road, Barrington. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held Friday, September 7 from 4-8 in the Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Friends of the Waterfront PO Box 932 Newport, RI 02840.
