PROVIDENCE, RI, - Cornelius James Sullivan, Jr., 79, of Sydney, Australia, passed on November 19, 2006 at the VA Hospital in Providence, RI. He was the son of the late Cornelius J. and Eileen Nash Sullivan of Newport. Mr. Sullivan was a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of De La Salle Academy, Class of 1944, and John Carroll University, Cleveland, Ohio. He also attended the University of Geneva, Switzerland. Mr. Sullivan worked for the International Committee of European Migration in Germany during the Hungarian uprising. He moved to Australia in 1956 where he worked for Unilever Foods until his retirement. Neil was an avid golfer from an early age, having won the Governor?s Cup at Wanumetonomy Golf Course as a teenager. He was also a world traveler who circled the globe several times. He was also a charter member of the RSL Club in Sutherland, Australia. He is survived by his brother, William J. Sullivan of Portsmouth, RI and Bonita Springs, FL and several nieces and nephews, Catherine Fish Montest and James A. Fish of Moontownship, PA, Julie Fish Carlson of Orange Park, FL, Timothy Fish of Warrentown, VA, Ann Sullivan Simmons of Fall River, MA and Teresa Sullivan Kroes of McBain, MI and several great nieces and great nephews.His funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2006, at 9:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be private.Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 27, 2006 from 4-7pm in the Memorial Funeral Home.
