Sun City Center, FL - Cornelius Connie Joseph Minihane of Sun City Center, FL, died on Monday, June 20, 2011 at 69 years of age at the LifePath Hospice Home in Ruskin, FL, seven months after being diagnosed with brain cancer. Born in Somerville, MA on October 28, 1941, he was the son of the late Cornelius and Catherine Likely Minihane. He was a loving husband, father, grand-father, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jeannine Dupuis and their four children: his son Neil and wife, Bridget, live in Colorado Springs, CO and Portsmouth, RI with their three children; his son Derek and wife, Susan, live near Sydney, Australia with their two daughters; his son Keith and wife, Kelly, live near Chicago, IL; his daughter Michele and husband, Bryan Palmintier, live in Seattle, WA with their daughter. He is also survived by his brother and two sisters and their spouses: Peter and Patricia Minihane, Theresa and Joseph Sullivan, and Mary Ellen and Frank Mahoney, and their families.Cornelius graduated from Matignon High School, Cambridge, MA, and then earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University in 1965. He conducted software testing for military and aviation applications for Raytheon, IBM and Lockheed Martin. His love for the water began at an early age. He enjoyed boating, fishing and SCUBA diving on Kwajalein, Marshall Islands and continued water activities in Portsmouth, RI and in Florida. When his children were younger, he coached their soccer and hockey teams and was always involved in both school and extracurricular activities. He enjoyed traveling and dancing with his wife and had plans for many more trips around the country and dance floor. When faced with the end, he wanted to do what he enjoyed most of all: spending time with his family.Visitation hours will be held on Tuesday, July 12 from 5-8 pm at the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI. The Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 13, at 10 am at St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth, with burial to follow at St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name may be made to one of the following: Life Path Hospice, 12973 N.
