Newport, - Cornelius J. Moriarty Jr. 90, of Newport, formerly of Middletown, died Monday, November 11, 2013 at Newport Hospital. Born in Newport, RI, he was the son of the late Cornelius J. and Emma (Oesterlein) Moriarty. Mr. Moriarty served with the Army Air Corp during WWII in the Pacific Theater as part of the 139th Army Airways Communication System Squadron. He was a 1943 graduate of Rogers High School. Mr. Moriarty worked for forty six years, retiring in 1988, for the Naval Regional Contracting Center as a clerk typist. Throughout his life, he was a member of the Trinity Church choir, starting as a boys soprano and then the adult choir. He belonged to the Newport City Bowling League from the 1940s through the 1970s and was a great fan of all sports. He is survived by his sister Eleanor C. Silvia of Newport, RI, and nephew John Perry of Milford, MA. He also leaves a great niece Audra Perry, great nephew Michael Perry anddear friend Bob Delehanty He was the brother of the late Margaret Perry. His funeral services were private.
