Dana H. Ridgley, 91, of Portsmouth died Thursday, November 26, 2015 at Grand Islander Health Care Center in Middletown, RI. He was the husband of the late Mary (Corsi) Ridgley.Born on December 23, 1923 in Chesterhill, OH, he was the son of the late Harry F. and Edith A. (Carpenter) Ridgley. Dana grew up in Ohio and graduated from Marion TWP High School. He served during World War II in the US Army. He served as a medic in France, Belgium and Germany.Upon his return home, he continued his studies, earning degrees from Ohio University, and University of Connecticut. He worked as an assistant and aid in the Chemistry Department before earning his PhD in Chemistry, where he then began his career as a professor for 4 years in Inorganic Chemistry. His career later continued with several years as a chemist for NASA's Space program. In his free time, Dana enjoyed woodworking and computers. Dana was most recently a resident of the Anthony House in Portsmouth.He is survived by a brother Glenn Ridgley and his sister Virginia Evans both of Zanesville, OH.. Burial will be on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 11:00am at the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Winsted, CT.
