Daniel J. Alvarnas

THE VILLAGES, FL, - Daniel Joseph Alvarnas, 79, years old, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at his home in The Villages, FL.He was the beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.A long time resident of Portsmouth, he attended H.F. Anthony School and Rogers High School. He was drafted into the Army in 1954 and was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, where he met his loving wife of fifty-five years, Carolyn. Danny worked for Campanella and Cardi construction until he became a salesman for Lawson Products. He rose through the ranks with the company and retired as a regional manager at the age of 70. A lifelong member of St. Barnabas Church, he was a frequent auctioneer at the annual feast. He decorated fro many of the churches social functions. He was an avid gardener, golfer and loved to ski and travel. With an enthusiasm for life that was unquestionable, Danny was a prankster and always looked for the fun in life. He enjoyed making people laugh and loved telling a good joke. Danny leaves behind his wife Carolyn, two daughters, a son, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Linn Alvarnas, her husband Ken Gaus and her children, Jenna Markovich, Taylor, Kelyn and Nathan Stevenson, Toni Carnevale, her husband Walter and their children, Ryan, Meghan and Evan, Daniel Alvarnas Jr. and his wife Louanne and there children, Daniel III and Alex, all of who reside in Portsmouth. In addition he also leaves behind his beloved sister Bella Benevides and great grandchildren Landon and Reese Markovich.He was the brother of the late Emily and Mary Raposa, Manuel, Joseph, Antone, John and Jack Alvarnas. A memorial mass will take place on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at 11:00 am in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his honor to Cornerstone Hospice The Villages division, 601 Casa Bella, The Villages, FL 32162.
