Newport, RI - Daniel J. Danaher, 65, of 16 John Street, Newport, RI, formerly of Hyde Park, New York, died Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at Heatherwood Nursing and Subacute Center, Newport, RI. Born in Hartford, CT on March 22, 1942, he was the son of Laurence J. and Cathryn M. McGuire Danaher, of Meriden, CT. Daniel graduated from St. John?s Preparatory School in Danvers, MA and the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. He had a long career as a chef in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. Over the years he worked at the Burlington Inn in Conn., the Nantucket Yacht Club and more recently at the Officers Club on the Newport Naval Base. He volunteered for the Gaffney Rehab Memorial Golf Tournament for over 15 years, where he helped raise funds for disabled children in Hyde Park, NY. Daniel was an avid bicyclist and a history and music buff. He was also a Green Bay Packers and a LA Dodgers fan. His family and many friends will forever miss his unique Irish humor. He is survived by his daughter Danielle E. Danaher of Sanford, FL, his sister Jane E. Danaher-Richard of Newport, RI and many close cousins.
