Danniel Murphy

December 14, 1954 — January 7, 2025

On January 7, 2025, the world lost a remarkable spirit, Daniel Edward Murphy, at the age of 70. Born on December 14, 1954, in Fall River, MA, Daniel lived a vibrant, adventurous life that took him from the classrooms of Roger Williams University to the bustling streets of New York City, traveling the globe as a businessman.

After beginning his career at Jordan Marsh in Warwick RI he then moved down to New York City, where Daniel's talent propelled him through the ranks at various iconic retailers, including Macy's, Fred Segal, Ralph Lauren, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman Bloomingdale's, Calvin Klein and Gallery Lafayette. For nearly four decades, he dazzled in the bright lights of both New York City and Los Angeles, even spending a year in Hong Kong, all while serving as a Vice President at Mattel Toys. His work in cosmetics and fragrances enriched countless lives, blending creativity with commerce.

Fluent in Spanish and French, Daniel was more than just a businessman; he was a connoisseur of culture, a lover of travel, and an ardent theater buff. His heart found joy in the melodies of musicals, with "War Paint" standing out as his favorite. He held a special admiration for legends like Julie Andrews, Barbara Streisand, Angela Lansbury, Mary Tyler Moore, and Lucille Ball. With a personality full of wit and a touch of sarcasm, conversations with Daniel were always entertaining, and never short of laughter.

Daniel is survived by his beloved sister, Kathleen Murphy, his nieces, Melissa Lynn Murphy-Leite and Kerri Ann Murphy-Duarte, and grandniece/goddaughter and nephew, Mary Francis St. Laurent and Christopher James Duarte.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Helen (Sullivan) Murphy, and his brother, Francis J Murphy, II.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held to honor Daniel at a later date. Flowers are omitted.

As we bid farewell to Daniel, let us remember the joy he brought to our lives and celebrate a life well-lived. His spirit will continue to dance in the hearts of those he touched, a testament to the brilliance of a truly dynamic individual.
