Darrell Mottu Stroud

Middletown, - Darrell Mottu Stroud, 81, of 50 Livingston Place Middletown, died Thursday, April 24, 2003 at Rhode Island Hospital Providence, RI.He was the husband of Theresa Risso Stroud. Born in Huntington, AR on February 11, 1922, he was the son of the late Virgil S. and Abigail Simpson Stroud.Mr. Stroud worked for the United States Navy Base as a driver from 1948 to 1974, then he was a bus driver for RIPTA for 10years and finally worked for Cozy Cab as a chauffer for special occasions retiring in 1995. He was a member of the United Baptist Church of Newport and served as a deacon for many years, and a member of the Middletown Senior Citizens Center. Mr. Stroud enjoyed driving almost anywhere with his family but he enjoyed just driving. Besides his wife of 56 years he is survived by two sons Paul Stroud of Jamestown, RI, and William Stroud of Milton, MA, his daughter Christine Stroud McCaull of Fernandina Beach, FL, four grandchildren and one great granddaughter.He was the sister of the late Billie Jeanne Wight. His funeral will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2003, at 10:00 AM in United Baptist Church, 30 Spring Street, Newport.
