David A. Conner, 67, of Benton, NH, formerly of Pope Street, Newport, RI, passed away on May 4, 2010 in Newport. Born in Newport, RI on November 1, 1942, he is the son of Emma E. Russell Conner of Newport, RI and the late Llewellyn A. Connor Mr. Conner was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam era. He worked as a mason and plumber at the Newport Naval Base Public Works Department before retiring. He previously worked for Manuel Alvanas Plastering Company for 25 years. An avid outdoorsman, David loved hunting and fishing and was a member of the Ammonoosuc Valley Fish Game Club in Woodsville, NH. He was also a member of the V.F.W and American Legion in Woodsville, NH, a past member of Cub Scout Troop #33, a former coach and safety officer for Newport Little League, and was a Red Sox and Bruins fanatic.In addition to his mother, he is survived by his former wife, Mary F. Garcia Conner; his son, James D. Conner, his daughter, Kelly A. Conner, all of Newport, RI; his siblings, Michael L. Conner and his wife, Diane, of Middletown, RI, Kathleen L. Page and her husband, Paul, of Portsmouth, RI, Deborah Stinton and her husband, Andrew, of Portsmouth, RI, Russell P. Conner and his companion, Richard, of Newport, RI, and Mary E. Levreault and her husband, Leo, of Somerset, MA; his Aunt, Emm Pucko of Miami, FL; his granddaughter, Angela Washington-Conner of Marion, SC; and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. He was the brother of the late Stephen F. Conner.His funeral will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 8 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in St. Mary Church, Williams and Spring Street, Newport, RI.
