Newport, RI - David Cabral, passed away at Newport Hospital July 12, 2009 at the age of 85 years, after a long illness. Born May 21, 1924, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Perry Cabral of Bristol, RI. He was the husband of Dorothy Snyder Cabral of Newport, who where married for 65 years. David came to Newport at the age of 16 and was an n Aquidneck Island resident for over 68 years. Being a loving husband, and father of his late son who died in 1969 at the age of 25. He was generous to everyone who needed his help when he was able to. His joy was to cook and was known for his New England clam chowder, Stuffies, and Rhubarb, Strawberry and pumpkin pies. He worked for Manchester and Wheeler Fish Co as a loader of trucks and for Standard Wholesale of Newport. He also helped to build housing for elderly on Pond Avenue many years ago and in later life loved to paint and wall paper. Besides his wife of 65 years, he is survived by his brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Bartolome of New Bedford, MA, Mrs. Mary Stevens of East Providence, RI, Norman Cabral of Providence, RI and Raymond Cabral of Maine, his Aunt Margaret Mazza of Bristol, RI and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased in death by his two brothers, Johan and Edward Cabral.All services will be private.
