David J. Mccalla

David J. McCalla, 53, of Rolling Green, Newport, RI, died peacefully at home on Thursday, April 25, 2013.Born in Newport, RI on July 13, 1959, he was the son of the late Conrad and Blanche (Haskins) McCalla.David was employed by the City of Newport for the past 27 years and previously worked on the Newport Naval Base. His hobbies included playing the drums, fixing any and everything, and enjoying time with family. He was an animal lover, a wonderful father and a great brother and friend. He truly had a heart of gold. We want to say that we love you and we will miss you dearly, but we feel joy that you are in God's arms now.David is survived by his daughter, Kristina M. McCalla of Newport, RI; his siblings, Conrad McCalla of Georgia, Leslie McCalla of Rhode Island, Stephen McCalla of Rhode Island, and Jeffrey McCalla of Rhode Island; his grandson, Elijah Greene; his longtime companion Christine Bailey of Newport, and nieces and nephews, Leslie (Muffy) Vandroff of Virginia, Allyson McCalla of Newport, RI, Steven Stanton of Newport, RI, Tannya Stanton of Newport, RI, Danielle McCalla of Newport, RI, Jessica McCalla of Newport, RI, Jeff McCalla, Jr. of Newport, RI, Janelle McCalla of Virginia, Vanessa Mccalla of Virginia, Toni McCalla of Virginia; and host of great-nieces and great-nephews.
