Jamestown, RI - David Moniz, 55, of Watson Avenue, Jamestown, RI, died Thursday, September 7, 2006 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. He was the husband of Karen Adele Pimentel Moniz. Born in Fall River, MA, on August 3, 1951, he was the son of John Moniz of Portsmouth, RI, and the late Bella Lema Moniz.Mr. Moniz was a meat cutter for 10 years at the Commissary on the Newport Naval Base. He was a communicant of St. Marks Church in Jamestown. Besides his wife and father, he is his brother John Moniz of Warren, RI, his niece Melissa Pestana of Providence, RI, his nephews Kevin Moniz of Tiverton, RI, and Gregory Pimentel of Fairfield, CT, his great nephews Jose Pestana, Francisco Pestana, James Pestana and Bruce Pestana all of Providence, RI, and his great niece Kirsten Pimentel of Fairfield, CT. His funeral will be held on Monday, September 11, 2006, at 9:00 am from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Anthony?s Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2006, from 2-4 and 7-9 in the funeral home.
