David Scott Deen, 44, of Newport, RI passed away in Newport on October 25th. He was born on April 12, 1964 in Stamford, Ct. the son of David Lewis Deen and Edith Find Deen.He graduated from the Bellows Falls Union High School in Bellows Falls, Vt. in 1982 and was a proud member of the football team which was undefeated and state champion in his senior year. He loved to ski, play the guitar, and he especially loved to cook. He was a completely self-taught chef and was amazingly talented and creative. Over the years he was the head chef at the Grafton and Saxtons River Inns as well as at his own restaurant, the Caf Marin in Saxtons River. He was also an award winning chef at the Taste of Vermont competition in 1988, an accomplishment of which he was especially proud. Later, after moving to Newport, R.I. he was head chef at both the New York Yacht Club and the White Horse Tavern. Over the years he gave much pleasure to so many people through the beautiful meals he prepared for them.He leaves his parents, Edith and Bruce Crosby of Southport, Maine and David and Allison Deen of Westminster, Vt., his sister, Deborah Deen of Colchester, Vt. , his three living children Marin Deen of Davis, Ca. and Hannah and Devin Deen of Newport. His son, Spencer Scott Deen, predeceased him in 1990.He also leaves his two grandmothers, Bernice Deen of Newport and Edith Find of Boothbay Harbor, Me., and aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, his former wives, and his loyal friends whom he loved, especially those from his high school years.Memorial contributions may be made to Davids House, P.O.
