David Scott White, devoted husband of Camille White for more than 28 years and adoring father of Adrienne, Lauren and Robert White, joined the church triumphant on Thursday, September 6, 2012. At the time of his passing, David was surrounded by his entire family who had the opportunity to tell him how much he was loved. David was the son of Robert and Diana White of Portsmouth and the son-in-law of Gertrude Patenaude and the late Jerry Patenaude of Portsmouth. He was the beloved brother of Debra Dube of Portsmouth and a caring uncle to Debra's three children, Heather Dube of Newton, MA, Joshua Dube and Ryan Davis of Portsmouth. He was also a loving brother-in-law to Sheila and Robert Osko of Norwich, Ct and Gerald Patenaude of West Melbourne Florida. David also leaves nephews Marc and Tim Osko of Norwich Ct, and nieces Chelsea and Jessica Patenaude of West Melbourne, Florida. David was a kind and gentle man with a marvelous sense of humor. He was a lover of animals and volunteered at the Potter League. He was always available to assist anyone who needed help. David was an avid sports fan who enjoyed attending Celtics, Bruins, Patriots and Red Sox games and spent time attending Red Sox Spring Training games in Fort Myers, FL. David and his son Robert recently took up kayaking and were looking forward to future adventures on the water.David graduated from Portsmouth High School in June 1980, and URI in June 1984, with a degree in Social Services. David's career was spent serving others in his capacity as a case manager for East Bay Mental Health Group Home in East Providence, RI for 25 years. Recently David had obtained his CNA certification and was working with patients at the Grand Islander Nursing Home. Calling hours will be on Tuesday September 11 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth with a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday September 12 at 10:00 am at the St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in the Trinity Cemetery in Portsmouth, RIIn lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Robert J White College Fund, c/o People's Credit Union, 2537 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
