Deborah Ann Silvia

Portsmouth, RI - Deborah Ann Silvia, 46, of 132 Viking Drive, Portsmouth, RI, died Thursday, March 15, 2007 at Women Infants Hospital, Providence, RI. Born in Santa Maria, CA on May 14, 1960, she was the daughter of Beatrice Silveira Silvia of Newport and the late Henry Silvia.Debbie worked on the Navy Base for 17 years, retiring in 2007. While on the base she received numerous civilian of the Quarter Awards, the Civilian of the Year award in 1999, and the Department of the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Medal from 1992 to 1995. Debbie gave 110% in processing and taking care of all of the personnel she was responsible for up until she could no longer work. She worked in pain and never wavered from her job until it became unbearable and she had to stay home or in the hospital. Even after being so incapacitated she still made an effort to call this office and check to make sure everything was still being taken care of. She will be sorely missed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She also worked for Fire House Pizza for 15 years. She was a 1978 graduate of Rogers High School, where she played basketball and ran track. Debbie also was a 1983 graduate of Roger Williams College, where she played basketball and softball. She also played softball for the Newport Recreation Womans Class A softball league for many years and was also an avid bowler. Debbie was a communicant of St. Augustin?s Church. Besides her mother, she is survived by her partner Carol Ann Perry of Portsmouth, RI, her twin sister Diane Marie Silvia of Newport, RI and her sister Teresa Jean Silvia of Newport, RI. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at 9:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Augustins Church, Carroll Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2007, from 2-7pm in the Memorial Funeral Home.
