Sebec, ME - Deborah K. Odell Martell, 46, of Sebec, ME, died Sunday, August 14, 2011, surrounded by her family at her sisters home in Tiverton, RI.She was the wife of Gordon D Martell. Born in Newport, RI on January 27, 1965, she was the daughter of the late Joseph R Jr. and the late Nancy Malcolm Odell. Debbie was an avid gardener and loved snowmobiling. She loved nature, and had taken a course in animal tracking recently as she loved to know what was roaming around her back yard. In the winter, they were visited by the same herd of deer. Debbie could tell them apart, gave them names and picked up on their various personalities even having one eat bread right from her lips! They would come up to the house, nose to the window waiting to be fed. She loved holiday baking, and made the most sumptuous strawberry homemade jam ever! Debbie was an avid fan of the local rock and roll group Dirty Deeds, she was full of live and was always looking for fun and excitement. She loved watching NASCAR and her favorite driver Jeff Gordon. Debbie was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister and friend to many. Once you met her she was someone you did not forget.Debbie and Gordon were high school sweethearts and just celebrated their 25 wedding anniversary this past March. She is she is survived by her children, Jonathan and Jacqueline Martell, of Maine, Alyssa Martell of Fall River, MA, and two grandchildren, Lydia and Erik, her brother James S. ODell and his wife Maggie of Tiverton, RI, her sisters Sandra Ouellette and her husband Eric of Tiverton, RI, and Sheila Knox and her husband Michael of Hanover, VA, and her nieces and nephews, Alison Ouellette and Justin Ouellette of Tiverton, RI, Marcie Martell of Guerneville, CA, Suzy Mahfouz, Michael Knox, Jr. of VA. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Beverly Martell.She was the sister-in-law of the late Kevin Martell. She also survived her father-in-law Dennis Martell, and her brother the late Joseph R. ODell III.A Celebration of her Life will be held on Friday August 19, the top floor of Scampis at 657 Park Avenue in Portsmouth, RI beginning at 4.
