Debra Jan Spaulding

Debra J. "DJ" Spaulding, 56, of Newport, RI, passed from this life, Sept. 21, 2013 in the presence of loving family members at South County Hospital in South Kingstown, RI, following a lengthy illness. Debra was born Feb. 23, 1957 in Newport, RI , and lived with her family in Middletown, RI. Debra moved to Florida after graduation from Middletown High School in 1976. She enjoyed working in the hospitality and service industries, as well as pursuing her love of the arts. Debra was a gifted artist, including talents in scrimshaw, fashion design, and pen and ink sketches of Rhode Island landmarks, particularly lighthouses. She returned back to Rhode Island in early 2008. She loved the outdoors and being surrounded by family. She is survived by her sister Susan M. Gomes and husband Raymond R. Gomes of North Kingstown RI, her brother Frederick L. Spaulding of Placerville, California, her sister Mary Cazeault and husband Daniel Cazeault of Warwick, RI, her brother James M. Spaulding of Narragansett, RI and her sister Lucy A. Kinsley of Middletown, RI and several nieces and nephews.Debra was preceded in death by her brother Edward and her mother, Marion (Barker) Spaulding and father, Edward Spaulding.Friends and family are invited to attend a grave-side service at 11am on Friday, September 27, 2013 in Newport Memorial Park on Vaucluse Avenue, in Middletown, RI.
