Perryville, RI - Debra Lee Franklin, 50, of Post Road, Perryville, RI, was called home on Monday, October 1, 2007 at South County Hospital, Wakefield, RI. Born in Newport, RI on April 26, 1957, she was the daughter of Mary Harris Franklin and Charles R. Franklin also of Newport, RI.Debra attended school in Newport and was a 1976 graduate of Rogers High School. Early in her career she worked at the Village House as a CNA and then for Interim Nursing Services. She developed a deep compassion for the elderly, and began a career as a private care nursing aide where she would help the sick and elderly maintain an independent and dignified life in their own home. Her commitment to these families was deeply appreciated. Debra loved playing bingo often at the Elks and enjoyed photography as a hobby, but her lifelong joy was spoiling her many nieces and nephews and her great nieces and nephews. Besides her mother she is survived by her sisters Ruby Franklin of Newport, RI, Beverly Franklin of Middletown, RI, MaryAnn Crook of Gulf Breeze, FL, Sandra Brooks of Ft. Worth, TX, and Kay Taylor of Mobile, AL; and her nieces and nephews Angelique, Danielle, Michael, Marques, Andre, Hanna, Elias Franklin, Milka, Ana, and Jana Tolich, and great nieces and nephews Alore, Austin, Mikayla, Jasmine, and Isabell. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2007, at 10:00am, in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will follow in Newport Memorial Park, Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 5, 2007, from 6-9pm, in the funeral home.
