Debra R. Foley

Debra R. (Butler) Foley, 59, of Portsmouth died surrounded by her family on Monday, July 6, 2015 at Brigham and Womens Hospital of Boston, MA. She was the wife of Mike Foley.Born on March 27, 1956, in Newport, RI, she was the daughter of Irene (Lewis) Butler of Newport, and the late Edward James Butler, Jr.Deb grew up in Middletown and was a graduate of Middletown High School where she met her husband Mike. She was employed at Newport Hospital right after high school working as a CNA, ward secretary and in occupational health for 26 years. After her health declined she spent many hours knitting, sewing and traveling with Mike. Deb loved a good cup of coffee with friends. In the last few years she devoted her time helping her parents and aunt. In March, Mike proposed again to celebrate their 40th anniversary, she said "yes".Besides her husband of 40 years, she is survived by her children, Jason Foley and his wife Meghan of Middletown, and Shannon Foley and her companion Dawn Longo of Newport, her siblings, Ralph Gould of Portsmouth, Scott Gould of Fall River, MA, Ian Gould of Washington, and Tammy Sprink of Florida and her granddaughter Maren Foley of Middletown. She leaves her late son Ryans companions Barbara Rosa of Middletown and her beloved pets Gracie and Lexy.She was the mother of the late Ryan Foley and sister of the late Edward J. Butler III.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2015, from 2:00-4:00pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Celebration of Life service at 4:00pm.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Portsmouth Volunteer Fire Dept.
