Portsmouth, - Delia L. Ventura, 78, of 124 Gormley Avenue, Portsmouth, died Wednesday, December 11, 2002 at Newport Hospital. She was the wife of Manuel D. Ventura. Born in Newport, RI on November 21, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Fanny Escobar Raposa. Mrs. Ventura was married to her husband Manuel for 55 years. She worked as a sewer for Anderson Little Clothing Company in Fall River for thirty-one years retiring in 1977. After her retirement she was employeed by Tremblays Restaurant in Portsmouth as a waitress. Mrs. Ventura was a member of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union. She was also a member of St. Anthony?s Church. She is survived by her husband Manuel D. Ventura of Portsmouth, RI, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late George Raposa. Her funeral will be held Saturday, December 14, 2002 at 9:00am from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery in Portsmouth.
