Deltude Margaret Harris

Newport, RI - Deltude Margaret Deveau Harris, 94, of St. Clare Nursing Center Newport, formerly of 6 Tyler Street, Newport, RI, died Monday, October 27, 2003 at St. Clare Home Newport, RI.She was the wife of the late Frank R. Harris. Born in Salmon River, Nova Scotia, Canada on January 8, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Evelyn Deveau Deveau. Mrs. Harris owned and operated the Harris Tailor Shop on Long Wharf. She was a member of the Fleet Reserve Auxiliary and the Newport Senior Citizens. She was a communicant of St. Joseph?s Church in Newport, where she served on the Rosary and Altar Society, and was active volunteering in the soup kitchen. Mrs. Harris loved going out for dinner and enjoying a good meal. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Catherine Amrault, Bernadette Gaudet, Leah Doucette, Mary McManus, Zoe Souirne and John Deveau. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2003, at 9:30 AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM in St. Josephs Church, Broadway And Mann Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.Donations may be made in her memory to the St. Clare Home, 309 Spring Street Newport, RI 02840.
