85, of Rego Road, Middletown, RI, died Saturday, February 14, 2009 at home with his wife at his side. He was the husband of Angelina Daglis Borodemos for 42 years.Born in Newport, RI on Dec. 5, 1923, he was the son of the late Thomas D. and Virginia Alevizos Borodemos.Mr. Borodemos served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the European Theater. He became a prisoner of war when his plane was shot down over Vienna, Austria and spent three months in a German prison camp.He was co-owner and manager of the former Tommys Diner, a four generation family operation, in Middletown for many years. He is a member of St. Spyridons Greek Orthodox Church in Newport and served on its council. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Thomas Borodemos, Charles Borodemos, Stephen Borodemos, and John Borodemos, all of Florida; a daughter, Patti Bartis, also of Florida; two step-children, Donna McGoff of Middletown, RI and Pastor Michael Gangemella of New Castle, DE; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves a sister, Christine Krones of Newport, RI and was the brother of the late Sophia Diomandes. His funeral will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 12 noon in St. Spyridons Greek Orthodox Church, 390 Thames Street, Newport. Burial with military honors will follow in Island Cemetery Annex in Newport.Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 20, 2009 from 4-8 pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
