Middletown, - Deolinda Pontes Rego, 87, of 1000 Wapping Road Middletown, died Wednesday, November 13, 2002 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI.She was the wife of the late Manuel J. Rego. Born in Fall River, MA on January 11, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Seraphim and Amelia Silvia Pontes.Mrs. Rego worked as a seamstress with the Garment Mills of Fall River and the Cherry Webb Company of Newport. She is survived by her daughter Natalie A. Silvia of Middletown, RI, her sister Irene Pontes Mello of Swansea, MA, her grandson David F. Silvia of Middletown, RI, her granddaughter Susan Grindell of Middletown, RI, her great grandson Dustin D. Silvia of Middletown, RI, and two great granddaughters Erica T. Silvia and Samantha Grindell both of Middletown, RI.She was the grandmother of the late Donna F. Silvia and the sister of the late Seraphim Pontes, Joseph Pontes and Mary Pontes Oliveira.Her funeral will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2002, at 8:00 AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00 AM in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway And Vernon Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown. Donations in her memory may be made to the Middletown Rescue Wagon Fund, 239 Wyatt Road, Middletown, RI 02842.
